State Minister’s NotesKurt Warner retired from playing for the Arizona Cardinals last week. He was a great quarterback, breaking many records in his career. His Christian witness is outstanding. The Arizona Republic had a special section in the paper on him. The headline on one of the pages in large, bold letters said, “Some players make everyone around them better.” It was a statement about his character, leadership, and example. Kurt’s impact has made a difference not only on his team, but on the millions who follow professional football and beyond. Most people will not have the opportunity to make a difference on as large a stage as Kurt Warner. But everyone makes a difference. The key question is, what kind of difference is each of us making? A national bestselling book, The Fred Factor, recounts how a postal carrier named Fred provides extraordinary service to customers on his mail route. Fred looks for opportunities to do something extraordinary in his ordinary tasks. He delivered the mail, but also tried to key on the unique needs of each of those on his route and respond to them. He so impressed one of them, Mark Sanborn, who authored the above book, that he coined the term the “Fred Factor” – how to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary. May we look for that special touch that our witness can make on others – so that what we say and do makes those around us better, and points them to Jesus. That’s the kind of difference we can all make! Craig Frank Haiti Response
